Police clampdown on unofficial formals Teens grog, drugs blitz Kelly Robinson PARENTS may be forced to attend a compulsory education session if their underage chil- dren are caught drinking, tak- ing drugs or using fake IDs this formal season. Manly commander Supt Dave Darcy is concerned about the unruly behaviour of students -- some as young as 15 -- at recent unsupervised, unof- ficial formals. As part of Manly police's tough stance to keep teenagers safe this formal season, underage students found drinking alcohol or taking drugs will be made to attend a three-hour Intervention, Mini- misation, Parents and Kids Together (IMPAKT) infor- mation session. The Manly Drug Education and Counselling Centre program is for both parents and their children to discuss health, legal and safety risks associated with underage drinking and supplying al- cohol to minors. Police will also increase pa- trols around formal venues and are likely to have sniffer dogs searching events. GST www.manlydaily.com.au Newspaper of the year 2009 * Anthony upstaged Kelly Robinson SEA Eagles second-rower Anthony Watmough is usually the one attracting attention but it was his gorgeous girlfriend, Brooke Cullen, causing a flashbulb frenzy on Tuesday night. The former grid girl and Face of State of Origin 2008 looked stunning in a peach, George Gross gown at rugby league's night of nights -- the Dally M awards. While Watmough was named the Dally M second-rower of the year, it was Miss Cullen winning awards on the red carpet. Miss Cullen, 20, originally from Queensland, is a popular swimwear model who has graced the runway for Lorna Jane, Kulu swimwear and was in a Schwarzkopf salon commercial. She has also appeared as an extra in Channel Nine's crime investigation series The Strip. Eels fullback Jarryd Hayne, who was named Dally M Player of the Year, took his mum Jodie as his date to the State Theatre ceremony. Sea Eagles fans will be hoping the in-form Watmough can help lead the team to victory against the Storm in Melbourne tomorrow night. Don't miss The Manly Daily's special Sea Eagles feature tomorrow.
