THE Federal Government's committee on climate change has handed down a plan of action on sea level rises, coastal erosion and heavier storms, echoing northern beaches council's submissions. A new national system for coastal planning should be introduced, according to the report. The national coastal accreditation system would involve three stages includ- ing assessment and im- plementation of plans. In the report, the assessments were to be made and financed in conjunction with state and local govern- ment authorities. Pittwater Council's gen- eral manager, Mark Ferguson, agrees with the report's recommendation for clarification on legal liability for new and exist- ing property owners. Mandatory risk disclosure to land owners was also suggested in the report. ToPage6 Grand opening 9am Thursday October 29th. Coles Newport's fresh food market is here.
